Thursday was our last day vacationing with the Skinners. They were leaving friday morning to spend a few days in Kauai and we were heading home first thing Saturday morning. We could all feel the vacation coming to an end and none of us were "ready in Korea"!
We decided we just wanted one last lazy day at the resort. But really it wasn't too lazy at all. Wes and Garrett found a group of teenagers playing football on the beach and went to join in. I was totally a creeper mom and snuck up and took pictures when I realized what they were up to and left after a few proud mom moments watching both of the boys make big plays for their teams. I loved that they were confident enough to go join in and that they were obviously having a great time.
I ended up back on Brynne duty going back and forth from the pool to the hot tub to the beach and around and around again and again.
In between all of these places at a restaurant at the resort there was this cute little photo op spot. I love this picture of Brynne. She was soooo stinking happy on this trip!
At some point all of our boys and both husbands ended up in the game pool and they had a volleyball game with a group of mormon families that were there together.
And then my boys figured out where all the ladies had run off to. They were doing line dances on the big grassy area. My boys are not dummies, they went straight over and joined in!
We did our best to enjoy our lovely beach, reading and napping here and there.
And of course, there was a bit of ukulele strumming going on as well ;)
We BBQed chicken for dinner and even wrapped it in the last of our bacon.
Another easy and tasty meal that everyone loved! There was lots of talk about how nobody could believe this was our last night of gathering at the Skinners for dinner and that they would be leaving in the morning.
It was so fun for us to see how close these kids had become in our week together. It's always so nice when your kids really enjoy your friends kids. Makes things like this so easy!
We all agreed that a walk down to Two Scoops was in order for the night.
We had a few things figured out this time around though. We knew not to try to cut through the bushes on the way out of the resort and we knew if we weren't quick we wouldn't get served because they ALWAYS close up just a little bit early!
Everyone knew exactly what they wanted
And everyone left happy, happy, happy!
As we walked home we started planning the next Bohn/Skinner vacation
Next up will likely be a cruise
Regardless, we are seeing many joint family vacations in the future!
The one thing we hadn't done yet that the kids had been asking to do, was play a few rounds of Reverse Charades. Turns out there is an app for that. Of course there is, and it's even easier to use than the game you buy at the store 'cause the timer is right there on your iPad!
We had fun acting out things like beach bum, Madonna, and drive through window
The sometimes shy Skinner kids were hilarious to watch
The kids could have played forever, but it was getting late and so it was time to say our goodbyes. Garrett made the rounds giving hugs to all the Skinners, and then, so as not to leave anyone out, he gave Drew a hug too. Which turned into a little head caress which lead to a little cheek squeeze, which put the rest of us into stitches laughing.
One last group picture of all the kids before we said goodbye until next year
Carpe Diem, seize the day. We did our best to squeeze the most out of our time together and it was awesome! We still had one more day in Hawaii but it wasn't going to be quite the same with out our whole crew!
