The Bucket Heads

Sometimes a moment or an event will touch you in such a way you are sure your heart will never let your mind forget it.  These moments are stored in my head and heart as images.  It isn't usually a big event, but rather little every day moments, that for one reason or another tug at my heart strings and in an instant my heart has taken a picture.
This year while I was at girls camp Wes and Garrett attended football camp at BYU in Provo and Drew had a week with his cousin Tyler at my sister Janelle's.  Brynne loved having one on one time with Daddy but missed me and "her guys".  The day I came home she informed me all about the party she had planned for my return home.  She had tried to convince Garrett and Drew who had returned the day before to hide in the bathtub in my room to surprise me.  That didn't go over too well with them, but we did all agree to go with her to the park and to follow through on all the activities she had planned for us to do there.
We had no idea what we were in for!  She had visions of us all running around the playground with these brighly colored buckets on our heads.  Luckily that only remained a vision long enough to snap a quick picture with Jeffs phone because we just couldn't get them to stay on our heads.  Next we were instructed to play on the swings.  I can't remember the last time I did that and I had forgotten how much fun it is!
When Brynne had her fill on the swings she directed us back to the grass where she showed me her "bootleg confetti".  She had spent so much time cutting out little triangles circles and long strips of patterned paper that we could throw into the air, because of course thats what makes it a real party.

Next up was the dance party.  She asked me to play the song about the two girls, the one with high heels and one with T shirts. Luckily, I knew to turn on Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me.  The guys were allowed to just sit and watch since it was a girl song, but she and I were to dance.  In the park, by the busy street, where any number of my friends or neighbors might happen to pass by, in the middle of the day.  Yep, we danced!
Since the boys didn't get to dance they were given some time to play football and then it was back to the swings for all of us.  Each activity, the order they would happen in, and the props that would be needed for each were thought of, prepared and carried out by my sassy little girl.  As I was pushing her on the swings she said to me,"Okay mom, that's it.  That's all I had planned for us for today and it all went perfectly!  This is exactly the day I wanted us to have on the day you came back home!"

It was a little too hot ouside, and I had a pile of laundry waiting for me at home.  I had somewhere else I was supposed to be going.  But this time I let it all slide.  Years from now I won't remember those things, but I am certain I will remember the day I danced with Brynne at the park.  The day we threw homemade confetti up into the air, just to pick up every single piece.  The day that we were The Bucket Heads.  But most importantly it was the day that went exactly how Brynne had planned it.
